I know who's really the star of the show here, so here's a Surprise Reappearance of everyone's favourite:
The Prizz? No way! I actually see him at least once a week at District Council, and last week I managed to convince him to give the fans what they really wanted.
This week I have been enjoying the first mail I have received since I entered the field. Firstly a CD of Christmas Carols by the King's College Cambridge Choir which I requested from my parents, has been filling our house with good English Christmas Spirit. Additionally I also received a very generous gift from Elder P's family, which included some delicious baked goods from Elder P's grandmother.
Everyone here in Costa Rica has been busy decking the halls. They all claim to be Catholic but I have a sneaky suspicion that they worship Santa because we can not walk down a street without his plump bearded face staring at us from every doorway and window.
I, in preparation for Christmas, have been focusing on my health.
Sometimes we run up this hill in the morning. The results are showing. Check out this heavy artillery. The Costa Rican Sun isn't the only thing that's packing heat.
Fitness isn't just a hobby, it's a lifestyle.
But that's enough self aggrandisement. I know you are all desperate to hear all about my incredibly exciting and fulfilling life here in the mission field.
On Tuesday we had another companion exchange, although this time just for one day. It was exceedingly difficult, as I remained here while Elder A went to H_____, and I had to lead my temporary companion Elder M around the town. His Spanish is also even harder to understand than Costa Ricans'. They all understand each other of course, but I was pretty lost both linguistically and geographically for most of those 24 hours. I will have to get used to it though, as one day Elder A will be transferred, and I will have to work with his replacement every day.
On Friday evening we weren't feeling our plan, so we headed down to P____ Centro to see who we could meet. We ended up being invited to play a cheeky 2 on 2 game of half court basketball with some muchachos we found there. I think I did quite well considering I was wearing a shirt and tie. We agreed to meet them again soon, and hopefully their families as well. Our primary job of course is to share the restored gospel of Jesus Christ, but people are much more likely to listen when they know you care about them. We make friends first, and then teach.
To all my friends
Elder Godivala
