But just so you know this is week 12.
That means I've spent the same amount of time in the field as in the CCM! How time flies. It's noticing meaningless milestones like this that mark a new missionary, Elder A tells me. I promised I'll stop after next Zone Conference (my second :0 )
So what happened this week? I'm not sure where to begin. I'll start at the start.
On Monday last week, after I sent my email, we held a family home evening at the Salcedo household. Elder A had tasked himself with providing the dinner. Fabio and Selenia have ten children, and had also invited several neighbours. Nevertheless, Elder A fulfilled his duty, and we ate, and were filled.
On Wednesday I ate three bananas for breakfast. One was a gift. I also made a pancake batter for the week. As we lack any kind of measuring implement in our kitchen, I had to measure the flour using a set of scales I made out of a clothes hanger. Bear Grylls who?
Hopefully you remember Arlen from last week's post. On Friday we helped him move house. It was very sad to say goodbye, but we arranged for the Elders on the other end to be ready to receive him and help unpack the moving van.
We also had a baptism. Hooray! Alberto had already been baptised twice, yet no records existed to prove it. So we made ABSOLUTELY SURE that this one was recorded.
Now surely, a baptism means guaranteed pictures, right? Well we took some. But then someone took our phone in L_____. On the bright side, we're no longer tied with two other places for Most Dangerous Area, with this robbery pushing us into the lead. Already we have a new phone, and new instruction from the Mission President telling us not to go to L_____ after 5 o clock.
I'll take a quick selfie so that I have something to share.
Yesterday a young member offered to play a video game with me and I refused. I tell you it's hard being this righteous. But I'll manage.
Until next week
Elder Godivala
XD Let's hope the other pair of Elders figured that out, Crispin. Scarface is on the wall of the local internet cafe, not their apartment, thankfully.
Word of advice for next time, it's a whole lot easier unpacking a static vehicle than a 'moving van'. Love the poster of that virtuous role model, Scarface.
